Top Five Management have terminated contract with Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin due to ‘difficulties with the athlete’s environment.’

Kenin, who finished the year ranked No 4 in the world, was one of the breakout stars of 2020. She won the Australian Open and reached the final of French Open.

She had signed the contract with Top Five Management after winning the Australian Open.

“Due to difficulties with the athlete’s environment, Top Five Management has decided not to extend its collaboration with Sofia Kenin,” they stated.

“After joining Top Five Management, the US tennis rising star delivered an outstanding performance during season 2020 – notably winning the Australian Open and reaching the final at the French Open.’

The agency currently represents various tennis players such as Elina Svitolina, Dayana Yastremska and Ons Jabeur.

Neither Kenin nor her team has yet responded to the news. The 22-year-old will start her 2021 season with the inaugural edition of the WTA event in Abu Dhabi, starting January 5.

“Forbes Magazine has ranked her as the eighth highest paid female athlete of 2020 with $4.8M in prize money and a further $1M in endorsements.
