Alexander Zverev’s ex-girlfriend, Brenda Patea, has revealed that she is pregnant with the tennis star’s child.
In an interview with German newspaper Bild, 27-year-old Patea said, “I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I am expecting a child from Alex.”
Patea was in a relationship with the 23-year-old Zverev for a year and the couple broke up in August this year. The two of them are not in touch and Patea, a model, said she will not be sharing the child’s custody with Zverev.
“That is out of the question for me,” she said.
“The child was not planned, but I will do everything to ensure that it grows up in a harmonious environment. I am in the fortunate position of being able to raise the child by myself.”
Explaining their break-up, she said, “There was a crisis before because we have different views on life. Anyone who lives by the side of an athlete has to submit.”
Zverev is yet to comment on Patea’s revelation.
Since the resumption of the Tour, after a six-month hiatus due to Covid, the German has enjoyed some highs professionally.
He reached his first Grand Slam final at this year’s US Open, which was conducted on a much smaller scale due to the pandemic and had a depleted field – top men’s players like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka were missing.
Zverev even served for the US Open title against Dominic Thiem but eventually lost 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-7 (6) in the final.
On Sunday, Zverev clinched back-to-back titles in Cologne.

The 23-year-old defeated Felix Auger Aliassime 6-3, 6-3 in the finals of the first week, then beat in-form Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-1 in the final this Sunday to claim the Cologne double.
He has already qualified for the ATP Tour Finals, which will take place at London’s O2 Arena from November 15 to 22.
