Federer Into Aussie Open Quarters
Twenty-time grand slam maestro Roger Federer has booked his place in the 2020 Australian Open quarterfinals after a slight scare in his fourth-round match.
The Swiss player, who is bidding to win the title down under for the seventh time, defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics after losing the first set 6-4. Federer came back to win the next three sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
Federer won 76% of points on his first serve, converted 7/12 break points and hit 44 winners to Fucsovics’ 15.
Roger also won 31/36 points when he attacked the net, something he’ll be looking to build on for the second week.
I’ve played a lot of tennis, but never against Tennys
Federer’s next opponent is American Tennys Sandgren, who defeated Fabio Fognini in his fourth-round match.
On his next opponent, Federer said
“I’m looking forward to it, I’ve never played against him, I’ve played a lot of tennis, but never against Tennys”
